Polish PM Declines Immediate Participation in US Peace Board
“Taking into account certain national doubts regarding the shape of the board, under these circumstances, Poland will not join the work of the Board of Peace, but we will analyze it,” Tusk said during a government meeting, according to reports.
Although Poland’s President Karol Nawrocki attended the board’s founding charter signing, he refrained from signing it, citing the need for official government approval.
On January 22, representatives from 19 countries signed the Charter of the Board of Peace during the World Economic Forum in Davos. The board was established as part of efforts to promote a peaceful resolution in the Gaza Strip, with additional nations reportedly joining the initiative since its creation.
The board’s inaugural meeting is scheduled for February 19 in Washington and is expected to involve leaders invited by the US administration. The gathering will focus primarily on fundraising for Gaza’s reconstruction.
