Poland Rules Out Greenland Troop Deployment

(MENAFN) Poland has ruled out deploying military forces to Greenland, the nation's prime minister announced during a Thursday press briefing.

However, while addressing reporters in Warsaw, Donald Tusk emphasized that any assault by one NATO member state against another's sovereign territory would represent "the end of the world as we know it," according to a Polish public broadcaster.

Greenland, an autonomous region under the Kingdom of Denmark, has captured American attention owing to its geopolitically critical position and extensive mineral deposits, alongside purported anxieties regarding increased Russian and Chinese operations.

Copenhagen and Nuuk have rebuffed offers to transfer ownership of the Arctic territory, firmly reasserting Danish control over the island.

Denmark, Sweden, and Germany are intensifying their military footprint in Greenland via training operations and surveillance activities, even as US President Donald Trump has maintained the territory must fall "in the hands of the US" to contain Russia and China.

Following discussions at the White House on Wednesday, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen acknowledged their dialogue had proven unsuccessful in altering the American stance.
